After the homophobic attacs in Rio de Janeiro a few weeks ago, again a gay man got battered.

According to the brazilian daily newspapers, the gay soap opera author Daniel Sena got battered last Sunday. The 24 old man, which is screenwriter for the famous brazil soap opera “Apenas Heróis” ( just heroes) left his house in his home town Salvador on Sunday evening when it happens.

The three men carried him into a small street and forced him to drink fuel and eat dirt from the ground. After they were ready with this, they tried to penetrate him with a metal rod. They even stopped because a lorry driver saw them and tried to stop them. Daniel Sena is sure he was attacked becaus of his job. The soap opera he is screenwriter for is a soap opera about gays and was more than once in the brazilian news.

A gay french soccer player, which who got a hiatus from his team after team members made homophobic remarks, said that his try to rejoin was rejected.

The 33 year old singer from northeastern Jamaica, whose birth-name is Miguel Collins, is known for gay bashing and the glorification of violence in his lyrics, which justify and promote the lynching of gays in Jamaica!

In 2007 SIZZLA had signed a declaration which stated “the right of people to live without violence be respected and maintained regardless of religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin or gender”, disputed this, however, in Jamaica.

A demonstration has been planned by Smash Homophobia for November 26th, the date of the singer’s first performance, at  Berlin’s Kesselhaus at KulturBrauerei. The organizers of the concert have not, as yet, been willing to cancel the event.

The wave of resistance against SIZZLA’s appearance have reached the German Bundestag and will be addressed in Wednesday’s session, according to Volker Beck, Bundestag whip and a speaker for human rights.
