A Museum in Washington banned the video of a gay artist after protests from conservatives and activists.

The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington banned the video of the artist David Wojnarowicz, called “Fire In My Belly“.

David Wojnarowicz, which died 1992 because of Aids, wanted to clarify the suffering of people with Aids. In his video, he shows a cruzifix, blotched with ants. The catholic league called the video a “torrent of hatred ” against christians. Because the governental support the exhibition got from the state, it was possible for the conservative republicans in the House of Representatives to ban the gay artist from the exhibition.
